So this past week, Torch Soccer, came into town to participate not only in a tournament put together by our very own AIA team, but to be a light for Jesus Christ. I can't even begin to tell you how awesome the past week was. The team participated in a tournament with three other local universities, two of which Athletes in Action Mexico has been working with. They also held two clinics with the youth and had two outreach events at Casa Verde (Casa Verde is a christian organization that ministers to college students... I would say it's similiar to FCA or AIA weekly meetings on college campuses in the United States).
The men and women Torch soccer players that traveled south of the border to share the Good News of Jesus Christ through
their ability to play soccer did just that. The night before the team left, they held one last outreach in which one of our Stinters, Joe Durham (who happens to be a former AIA baseball player
from last year's Mexico team) shared his testimony. SIX mexico athletes received Christ as their Savior!!! What an impact the soccer team had on those who they have met here in
We are also extremely proud of our staff - Abbey Reed, Marnie Johnson, Erica Yost, Joe Durham, and Mandi Decker. They did a fantastic job (that's for you Abbey) putting together their first summer tour working through the challenges & kinks and staying focused!
With that being said, we thought we'd share a few pictures of the past week. Thank you to all of you who have been praying for this team and for our AIA team here in Mexico.
For those that can read Spanish, here is a sweet article about the Torch and their time here in Mexico.
